The milling attachment shown at lower left uses the
same precision spindle assembly as used on the grinding
attachment. The bearings are grease-packed for the life of
the bearing. No lubrication or bearing adjustments are
required. The base of the milling attachment is ribbed to
provide maximum rigidity and the attachment will mount on
the top slide of any model Levin Compound Slide Rest or
Double Tool Cross Slide. The vertical slide has an adjustable gib to take up
wear and a thumb screw to lock the slide in any desired position.
The leadscrew has an instantly adjustable fraction dial
graduated in 0.0005" or 0.01 mm
increments. The entire spindle assembly is mounted on a
swivel slide graduated in degrees. It may be swiveled
through 360 degrees.
This milling attachment uses WW style collets and arbors.
It can easily be set up for a wide variety of operations
involving milling, drilling and grinding. These attachments
may also be obtained without the spindle assembly and
yoke. Used in conjunction with a Levin Compound Slide
Rest, they constitute a 3-axis slide-positioning assembly
of small size. This 3-axis unit is frequently useful in tooling
applications and as a special tool or work-positioning
unit to be applied to other equipment.
