This very small Micro-Drill Press is
specifically designed for precision drilling of small holes
under 1/8" diameter. Wherever
small parts cannot be drilled conveniently in a Levin Micro-Drilling
Machine, this drill press should be used. It is extremely sensitive
because there is no sliding quill. The table elevates into the
drill through a rack and pinion feed. Since the rack tube is
hollow, an adjustable spring counterbalance may be inserted into
the rack to compensate for the weight of any fixturing, thus
maintaining the sensitivity of the table-elevating mechanism.
The spindle is fitted with precision preloaded ball bearings
and is made to hold Levin WW style collets or keyless adjustable
chucks mounted on WW style arbors. Both the spindle and motor
have 2-step pulleys to provide 4 drilling speeds. An adjustable
stop on the rack limits the table elevating stroke. The table
itself is a Meehanite casting which may easily be drilled and
tapped for mounting various types of fixturing devices.
For drilling very small holes in miniature and micro-miniature
parts, this small drill press offers the precision, sensitivity,
and visual accessibility essential for both tool room and production
applications.
